Father's Day Baby Handprint Plaques

For Father's Day I wanted to give these little plaques with Gracie's handprints on them! They definitely didn't turn out the way I expected, they were very messy, but I thought they still were kind of cute!

I bought these wooden rectangle plaques at Walmart for .99 each. I spray painted them the colors I wanted for the background. I got washable paint and put it on a paper plate to dip Gracie's hand.

The hard part was Gracie's fingerprints...of course. That proved to be much more difficult than I imagined. I would dip her hand in the paint and she would clench her hand in a fist that I would have to unbend, then as soon as I put her hand down she move it like crazy.

She was starting to get pretty fussy about it (she doesn't like being held or controlled), and was of course rubbing paint all over herself, so I settled for some messy prints and moved on.

I switched colors halfway through, started with white then went to black. Don't ask me why, the white was cute also.

After they all dried I wrote Father's Day messages on each one in a black sharpie, then I sprayed clear spray paint on them, or you could use modge podge, just to seal everything and make it last longer. Don't mind my colorful cardboard box (I use it for all my projects). My husband and his dad are both obsessed with the Utah Utes so I made theirs red and added a painted "U" on each one. On my dad's I wrote "The best dads get promoted to GRANDPA". I also made my mom one because I knew she'd love it and wrote, "The best moms get promoted to GRANDMA".
