stop the glorification of busy.

Sometimes I need to just slow down and remind myself that busier does not equal better. Why is it that we fall into that trap? Doesn't it sometimes seem like we are in some sort of competition for who has the busiest schedules? When Dawson and I were dating, I remember sitting in my car talking about college and family and other matters. He asked me what I wanted most in my life, and I told him what I wanted most was to raise a happy and righteous family. This was the very same conversation in which I was trying to decide what to major in. Before I knew I wanted to be a nurse, I did know I wanted to be a mom. Remembering this helps me to realize that I am working my dream job. What I have always wanted was to be a mom, so I need to take time to enjoy just that. Sometimes we need to clear our schedules for no other reason than to just have a clear schedule and be present in the moment, without worrying about somewhere to be or something to get done.

Gracie's new thing is saying "Hi!" and sometimes she'll say it over and over again, "Hi, hi, hi, hi, hi, hi!" It's the cutest thing and people love being greeted like that!

Don't get me wrong, we are all busy in various ways, but I challenge you this weekend to when you get the chance, even if it is just for an hour, to put away your phone and your to-do list and stop being busy, just be present for that time for yourself and for your family. It really is liberating.
