Camping at Bear Lake

We spent the weekend camping at Bear Lake for my annual Kendall/Lane family reunion. Bear Lake is my favorite place and I love spending it every year with my favorite people! Last year Gracie was only two weeks old, so we only drove up for the day on Sunday to see family.

Our camping set-up...the dogs slept in our car and we had plenty of room in our tent for Gracie's porta-crib. The hard part was the cold at night and heat during the day (luckily she could take naps in my dad's camper), and being around the noise since we had such a big group.

Gracie bundled up because it was COLD at night and in the morning.

My family's set up.

Dogs wanted to play nonstop in the water! They were soo tired by the end of the trip.

I had Dawson give me some photography lessons (AKA I can now work the camera) so that he can start being in some of our pictures.

We didn't get enough action shots of my new step-family that I love! We also didn't get ANY pictures of Dawson and I together, which I was bummed about once I realized! I guess that's what happens when you become parents, you're way more concerned about pictures of the baby!

These pictures make it look like our weekend was nothing but bliss. I'm going to be completely honest here...while there were blissful moments, it was also really stressful! Gracie got sick Friday morning at home, she threw up a few times, and although she was doing much better by the time we left Friday night, she still wasn't 100% herself the whole time we were there. She also threw up a tiny bit on Saturday morning and that was it. However, she wasn't eating or drinking a lot, and nap time and bedtime were hard...resulting in an overtired baby. I think camping would have been hard even if she hadn't been sick.

Dawson had to be back to work on Monday, so he was heading home Sunday, but I was going to stay with my family for a few more days. After Dawson had left with the dogs Sunday night, I got really sick (I'm sure it was the same thing Gracie had). I was already on the fence about staying, so I called him right away and he turned around and picked me up. Driving home sick to my stomach was not a pleasant experience, but I was SO GLAD to be home, for myself and for Gracie. Right as I was feeling better today, Gracie threw up again during breakfast. So there is still something going on with her too. We are sick of being sick in this house!

On an optimistic note the best parts of the weekend were: playing in the water (Gracie LOVED that), seeing extended family, playing games with family, talking and spending time with my dad and siblings, laying under the stars with my husband, and of course campfires!
