We just had a lovely weekend full of biking, hiking, yard work, s'mores around the fire, settlers of catan, close friends, both of our families, and stake conference. It still doesn't seem real that it's already summer but we sure are loving the warm weather!
Since Independence Day is coming up FAST, I'm going to share a couple of my 4th of July crafts I made to decorate:
I made this United States sign last year and I really wish I would have taken pictures for a tutorial! Pretty much I used three skinny pieces of like 1"x8" wood, set them up (but didn't glue them yet), and used trace paper to stencil a map of the US on (YES, it was intricate). Then I used my wood burning wand to wood burn the states. After that, I painted each strip red, white, and blue. I then used wood glue to glue a few long pieces of wood vertically across the three pieces to keep them together. There were some parts of the map I had to burn over again to darken the lines, and wa-la!
This wreath I also made last year and didn't take pictures but the tutorial I followed is here. I love Independence Day and anything patriotic! It is for sure one of my favorite parts of summer!
